David Allred has actively worked as an adult leader in scouting since 1988 serving in a variety of positions at the local unit and district levels.  He enjoys most being with young men on wilderness treks and has done treks in Arizona, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico and Utah.  Dave attended Woodbadge (C-47-06) and this is his first time serving on Woodbadge staff.  Dave has also served three times on staff at the Grand Canyon Mountain Man Rendevous, a Varsity Scout high adventure event.  David and his two sons are Eagle scouts.

Steve took his practical at Camp Lakota (C-20-00), and this is his fourth Wood Badge staff experience. He has been involved in Scouting for 22 years, of which 15 have been as an adult leader. He has held various positions, including Unit Commissioner, Scoutmaster (of Troop 100), Cubmaster, and Webelos Den Leader. Currently, he is serving as an Assistant District Commissioner for the Aptakisic district. His BSA recognitions include the District Award of Merit, the Scoutmaster Award of Merit, and the Scoutmaster's Key. He has two sons, Perry and Jacob, who have used their scout training and experiences while traveling to such places as New Zealand and Switzerland.

This is Todd’s first staff experience at Wood Badge.  He attended Wood Badge training in 2006 (Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta; C-47-06) and is a FOX.  As a profession, Todd teaches leadership skills to executives and managers.  He has been active as an adult in Scouting since 1980 and has held a variety of positions.  Todd is currently an Assistant District Commissioner.  Both Todd and his son Trennon are Eagle Scouts.

This is Bill’s seventh Wood Badge staff experience. Bill’s practical Wood Badge courses were SR-416, Walking Wood Badge XVI, Philmont, and C18-09 NEIC. He is a “double” Fox. 

Bill is blessed to currently serve as a volunteer scouter in his 7th BSA Council, and serve on Wood Badge staff in his 3rd Council. Bill has been involved in scouting as a youth and adult for +30 years. He is currently serving as District Commissioner, North Star District. 

Bill has previously served scouting through the years, in a variety of capacities including Assistant Scoutmaster, various commissioner roles, Roundtable Chair, District Chairman, OA Chapter Advisor, and other district/council roles.

Bill is a Vigil honor member, and holds a Ph.D. in Commissioner Science. Bill’s other recognitions include the Silver Beaver, District Award of Merit, Distinguished Commissioner, and God & Country award.

This is Ken’s first Wood Badge staff experience. He attended the 21st Century Wood Badge in 2008 (Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta; C-22-08) and is at the top of the food chain as a Bear. He has held many positions in scouting over the last 20 years including Scoutmaster, Unit Commissioner, Committee member and Crew Advisor. He is currently serving his second time as Advisor for Crew 174 in Lake Villa, IL. His son Eric is an Eagle Scout.

John

This is John's first Wood Badge staff experience. John is a Bear from C-22-07. John entered Cub Scouts in 1979 in the Juniata Valley Council in central Pennsylvania, and became and Eagle Scout in 1987 in the Black Beaver Council in southwest Oklahoma. John has been a volunteer with the North Star district since Fall, 2001, principally as a Commissioner for three Cub Scout packs in Lake Villa, and is currently also the district Advancement and Recognition chairman.

John is a Program Manager for Motorola, managing software development for new cell phones. John is also a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and is on a mission to recapture his Vigil name, which translates simply as "run fast". He ran his first Marathon in January, 2010, and is registered to run the Chicago Marathon on 10-Oct-2010. Running alongside (or perhaps far in front) will be his son, Daniel, who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2007.

Lynnette completed her practical at camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta (C-48-04). She is a Bobwhite. This is her 4th staff experience. Shortly after she completed her Wood Badge training, she joined the Aptakisic District Training Staff. In 2009 she served as an instructor at Lord Baden Powell University.

Lynnette is currently the Activities and Civic Service Chairman of the Aptakisic District. She served as the Boo Camp chairman in 2008 and 2009. She is also Pack Trainer and a Den Leader for Pack 189. She has earned the Tiger Cub Den Leader Award, the Den Leader Award, the Webelos Den Leader Award, the Aptakisic District Square Knot Award and the District Award of Merit. This year, she earned the God and Service adult religious emblem award and the Silver Beaver award. She and her husband Jim have three young sons, two Boy Scouts and one Cub Scout.

When not busy with Scouting, Lynnette volunteers as a Sunday school teacher at her church, the United Methodist Church of Libertyville, and has been on the Vacation Bible School staff for the past 6 years. She donates her time to provide art awareness presentations at her son’s school. She is also on the board for the Libertyville Gymnastics Academy booster club. She enjoys horseback riding, scrapbooking, camping and hiking.

Lynnette started as a Tiger Cub den leader in May 2003 when her oldest son joined scouting. In February of 2005 she became pack committee chairman and served in that position until May 2008. She also served as advisor for Venture Crew 104 from May 2005 until December 2007.

Michael has been involved in Scouting for 22 years- most of it as a Scout. Starting as a Cub Scout in a small town in Iowa, Michael earned his both his Arrow of Light and Eagle Scout rank. Michael has completed several high adventure trips to the boundary waters and also camped at the National Okpik Winter High Adventure base in Ely, Minnesota. He spent 5 summers on Boy Scout Summer Camp staff at Camp Ingawanis near Waverly, IA. During that time he taught outdoor skill merit badges and coordinated the Tenderfoot to First Class Program. In 1993, Michael attend the National Scout Jamboree as Troop Quartermaster. The following year, he graduated from the National Junior Leader Instructor Camp at Philmont. Michael is a past Order of the Arrow Lodge Chief of Sac-N-Fox Lodge# 108 where he earned both the Vigil Honor and Founders Award. After graduating from college, Michael returned to Scouting as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 42 in Lake Bluff. He currently serves as Scoutmaster of Troop 42. Michael is regular instructor at the Council's Scoutmaster Training courses and Council Training Day. In 2009, Michael ran the Klondike Derby for Northstar and Aptakisic Districts at Great Lakes Naval Base. This winter Michael was honored with the National President's Scoutmaster Award of Merit.

Michael completed his Wood Badge Practical at the chilly C-48-04 course. This will be his 4th staff experience.

Donna has been involved with scouting for the past 19 years, serving as an assistant scoutmaster and scoutmaster with Troop 912 in Evanston. For the past 10 years Donna has been the Commissioner for Troop 912 and most recently for Troop 916 and is also an Assistant District Commissioner in the Potawatomi District. Donna has received the District Award of Merit and the Henry Crown Award.

When she is not bicycling, gardening and scouting, Donna is a manager at the corrugated box and paper making company -Packaging Corporation of America

Donna took her practical at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta (C-22-07), and this is her first Wood Badge staff experience.

Charolette

This is Charolette’s first staff experience. She worked as support staff for the C-18-09 course. She was the advancement chair for Troop 194 for 7 years and is currently the Advisor for Venturing Crew 3211. She has been on staff for Boo Camp and has helped with popcorn distribution for several years. She is a Vigil member in the Order of the Arrow and was been awarded the District Award of Merit in February 2010. Her two adult sons, Chris and Alex, are both Eagle Scouts.

Charolette took her practical at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta (C-22-07), and this is her first Wood Badge staff experience.

Lee comes from a very active Scouting family. Both his sons are Eagle Scouts and all four family members hold the OA Vigil Honor. Lee  has served as an ASM, SM, and even as an ASM for the 2005 Jamboree. Currently Lee is serving as a Troop Committee Member for Troop 194. Lee's Wood Badge course was C4803 and this is Lee's 5th staff experience.

This will be Frank's first time on Wood Badge Staff having attended Wood Badge for the 21st Century (C-47-06). He is a "good old Fox".

Frank's past scouting leadership experiences include Pack Activity Coordinator, Assistant Den Leader, and Webelos Den Leader with Cub Scout Pack 191 --  where he graduated all of his Webelos to Boy Scouts.  Frank is currently serving as a Unit Commissioner for Cub Scout Pack 191, Boy Scout Troop 190 and Venturing Crew 190.

Tim is a third-generation Scoutmaster, having served seven years as Scoutmaster of Troop 273 in Vernon Hills. Over the years he has held several positions at the unit, district and council level, and is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 273, a committee member for Crew 273, and a member of the council training committee. His two sons, Nathan and Ryan, both achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Tim's practical Wood Badge experiences were at Camp Lakota at course C-20-00, and again at C-18-09, held at Indian Mounds Reservation. He is a "double" Owl. This is Tim's fifth staff experience.

C-03-10 is my first time staff experience. I became involved in Scouting as my two sons progressed through the ranks from Bobcat to Eagle Scouts. Since 1979 I have been a Scout Master, Council Training Chairman, Varsity Team Coach, Explorer Advisor, Troop Committee member, Shooting Sports Director, Cub Day Camp Staff, and currently the chairman of the NEIC Health and Safety Committee. I am a Bear from C-22-07.

This is Joanne's fifth staff experience, she previously attended Wood Badge training three times: Cub Scout (WCS-9-83), Boy Scout (EC-358) and 21St Century (C-27-05), accumulating her own Noah’s Ark of critters. Having held various Scouting positions over the past 30 years, Joanne currently is the Council’s Vice President of Membership.

She has published two handbooks for Scout training within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: LDS Cub Scout Position Specific Training and LDS Eleven Year Old Scouts Position Specific Training. She has received numerous Scouting recognitions, including the Silver Beaver Award. Her two adult sons, Glen and John, are both Eagle Scouts.

Ron began his carer in Scouting as a Cub Scout in pack 228, it was 1958. Over the years he has served as Scoutmaster, Explorer Post Advisor, Member of the Troop Committee, Cubmaster, and is currently a member ot the Council Executive Committee of the Northeast Illinois council.

He has earned the Cubmaster Key, Distinguished Commissioner Award, and the Adult Religious Award. Ron has been recognized for his service with the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver Award, and is a James E. West Fellow.

Ron's first Wood Badge experience was C-07-98 at camp Lakota and to stay up-to-date again at C-18-09 at IMR.  He is a Buffalo and this will be his third Wood Badge staff experience.

C-22-07. She has been in scouting mostly since 1994 when she and her son,
Jason, joined Pack 74 in Lake Villa, IL. Within a year she'd been charged with being a Cub Committee Chairman. After entering leadership in Boy Scouts taking her Leader Essentials, Basic training and Leader Specific training for Scouts, Princess continued in her role as a troop Committee Member (earning a District recognition along the way. After 1998 her second Son Thomas began Scouting and both son's earned the rank of Eagle Scout by 2009. She earned her Wood Badge beads with excitement for helping her troop and others, as she looks forward to helping other

Wood Badge participants enjoy doing the same.. She is currently in the process of enjoying her role as a second time District Staffer Wood Badge, Troop Committee member for Troop174 and Wolf Den Leader.

This is her 2nd Wood Badge staff experience.

Brad has been actively involved with scouting since 1989.  He has served as explorer post/venturer crew advisor, scoutmaster and currently is a member of the council executive board.  Brad is a dentist who practices in the northern suburbs.  2 of his three sons are eagles, with the third not far behind.   a Silver beaver recipient he attended Wood Badge (C-47-06).  Go Buffalos! and is looking forward to this his first staff experience.

Dianne has been involved in Scouting for 7 years- all as her son, Aaron, was a Cub and Boy Scout.  She started by supporting Pack 71 in Libertyville by publishing a Pack newsletter each month, initiating a Pack website, coordinating the Pack camping trips twice a year, and serving on the Pack Committee.  When her son crossed over, Dianne became the new Outdoor Coordinator and Web Site Advisor to her son’s Troop.  She is a merit badge counselor for Music, Genealogy, Public Speaking, and Camping, coordinates the Adopt-a-Highway program, and assists her Scoutmaster with anything needed for Troop 60. 

Dianne also coordinates summer camp to Camp MaKaJaWan and considers her 8+ days up at camp one of the highlights of her year. Dianne is also Okpik trained.  Dianne is privileged to have been a manager for 20 years at the Allstate Insurance Company and has been married to her kind and patient husband for 15 years.  They also have a beautiful daughter and the best golden retriever in the world.   

Dianne completed her Wood Badge training at the amazing C-22-08 session as a member of the Bobwhite patrol.  This is her 2nd staff experience.

Malvern (Chip) Smith III

Chip is currently serving as an Assistant District Commissioner for the Aptakisic District as well as a member of the Council’s 2010 National Jamboree Committee. He is also a member at large of the Council Board. He began his Scouting career in 1967 in Nashville, Tennessee attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 1969. He has been actively involved with the Northeast Illinois Council since 1996 participating with his three sons in Troop 78. During his time with Troop 78 he has served on the Troop Committee and as Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster. Chip has received the District Award of Merit, the Scoutmaster Award of Merit and recently received the Faithful Servant recognition from the Members of the churches of Christ in Scouting. Each of his sons has attained the rank of Eagle.

Having first attended Wood Badge as a participant in C-48-03 and this will be his 4th staff experience.

When not Scouting, Chip is the Vice President of Audit Services for ACCO Brands Corporation in Lincolnshire and actively involved with his church.

This is Scott’s second staff experience, he initially attended Wood Badge training in May of 1986 (EC-355-W) and was on staff at C-47-06.

Scott’s first adult position in Scouting was in 1980, since that time he has served as Committee Member, assistant Scout Master, Scout Master, Unit commissioner.

The highlight of his Scouting experience is focused on his six sons, all of which have achieved the rank of Eagle.

Lynn Sweetwood has worked as an adult in Scouting for over 25 years. An Eagle Scout himself, Lynn also has two sons who are Eagle Scouts. He has served as a Scoutmaster, OA Advisor, Unit Commissioner and now on the Aptakisic District Staff as the Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner. This is Lynn’s first staff experience after attending the C-22-07 training as a proud Buffalo.

Lynn enjoys high adventure and has taken Scouts on many treks to the Northern Tier sites (Ely, Minnesota; Bisset, Manitoba and Michigan) and on diving and sailing treks in Florida. He has been to summer camp for over 21 straight years teaching Lifeguarding and other skills and enjoys adventure in any form. Just recently, he was able to experience Philmont with his youngest son as he completed his Eagle award.
